Home of Hand-Woven Baskets

Your ancestors, no matter who or where they were, made baskets. In every civilization and every part of the world, basket making has been practiced. Needed as a carrying vessel, a basket probably acquired its name from its use, such as egg baskets, hearth baskets, market baskets, etc.

A renewed interest in our past and a desire for things that at least “look” old have brought about something of a renaissance in basket making in recent years.

Rattan core, known to most of us as reed, has been used in this country to some extent for many years, replacing natural materials, preserving our natural resources.

Of one thing I am certain, anyone who weaves, collects or just plain appreciates baskets is a breed apart.
